Laura Hunter Drago is a writer and producer based in Los Angeles who was named one of the Austin Film Festival’s “25 Screenwriters to Watch.” She is a Film Independent Project Involve Screenwriting Fellow, where she was awarded the Sony Pictures Entertainment Fellowship.
As a screenwriter, Laura has won the Austin Film Festival and the WeScreenplay Short Script Lab, among other accolades. Laura’s work often follows women as they find their voices within fantasies and thrillers that have a dark comedic edge. Her latest project, the short comedic thriller produced by Film Independent, TRADWIFE, is expected to premiere at festivals in 2026.
Laura wrote and produced the Webby Award Honoree scripted mystery podcast series THE CRIME AT CAMP ASHWOOD. She directed and produced the Coven Film Festival runner-up animated short THE ECHO, as well as the popular scripted horror podcast ST. MARY’S SCHOOL (FOR CHILDREN WITH THE STIGMATA). Laura also produced the award-winning film, TO THE NEW GIRL, which is featured on Little Dot Studio’s Created By Women Channel.
An alumna of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts at The Atlantic Theatre Company Acting School, Laura now considers herself a retired (and recovering!) actress, but she remains a proud SAG-AFTRA member.
