Laura Hunter Drago is a Los Angeles-based writer. After growing up a painfully shy child with selective mutism, she found her voice through storytelling. Her work centers women as they find their power in elevated thrillers and character-driven coming-of-age stories, all with a dark comedic edge. Her latest project, the short satirical thriller TRADWIFE, is expected to premiere at festivals in 2026.
She was named one of the Austin Film Festival’s “25 Screenwriters to Watch,” is a Film Independent Project Involve Screenwriting Fellow, and a Sony Pictures Entertainment Fellowship recipient.
Drago’s writing has won awards at the Austin Film Festival and the WeScreenplay Short Script Lab, among other accolades. She wrote, directed, and produced the Webby Award Honoree scripted mystery podcast series THE CRIME AT CAMP ASHWOOD; directed and produced the Coven Film Festival runner-up animated short THE ECHO; and produced the award-winning, 100% woman-made feature TO THE NEW GIRL, featured on Little Dot Studios’ Created By Women channel.
Laura is an alumna of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
